Release Dr. Aafia Siddiqui

Zardari Problem

Though there is a very huge weight behind the argument that had the elections been held on Jan 8, People’s Party would have gotten the majority throughout the country due to the sympathy votes. Though morbid it sounds, but in Pakistan the politics of corpses has remained very effective.

People’s Party thrived over the dead body of its founder Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto for decades and only due to that reason late Benazir Bhutto became the Prime Minister of Pakistan twice, though her first term was as lackluster as any, and the she encountered the same corruption charges, as she received when in the second term and beyond.

Now the question is that whether Asif Ali Zardari would be able to cash in on the ghastly assassination of Benazir or not, as in her life Benazir didn’t even consider him as a candidate for the national assembly, and he was the prime reason behind the downfall of her regimes two times, and when Benazir came to Pakistan after terminating her self-exile last year on 8th October, she didn’t bring Mr. Zardari with him, as she knew that her husband wasn’t a celebrity in the country, which she ruled twice.

Initially after the horrendous slaying of Benazir Bhutto on 27th December, Pakistan nation even forgot the alleged corruption of Zardari, and supported him, and even accepted him as a co-chairman of the party. But now as the days are passing, and the things are settling down a little bit, and people are coming out of the emotional shocks, and their eyes and senses are getting accustomed to reality, they are beginning to see through the fog, and they are now finding it more and more hard to accept Zardari, as leading a main party of Pakistan.

As the shock is settling in the memories are being refreshed by the opponents and media in the minds of people. They are now being reminded about the Swiss accounts, and surrey palace, and the huge properties and wealth and the pending cases in foreign courts. They are also being reminded about the still mysterious murder of Murtaza Bhutto, which her widow blamed on Mr. Zardari and his late wife.

There is so much dust and dirt waiting for Zardari in the very near future.

OK! who is going to address the 900 pound gorilla in the room……? is everyone thinking sanely? well if you are please look at how the events unravelled and you can guess with confidence that Zardari was a part of Benazir’s assasination
