Zardari Makes Final Moves
The co-chairman of Pakistan People’s Party is still in the process of thinking over his predecessor to the lead the party when he surely becomes President of Pakistan in couple of days. He has shortlisted some names, and is sure to hand over the job to someone very close and more than likely to a relative. There is also a strong possibility that he may keep the designation to himself, though sooner or latter he would have to decide one for him from the two choices.
On the maneuvering front, he is at one hand buying and cajoling the loyalties of the Punjab MPAs and the Independents and relying heavily on the forward blocs of PML-Q. He is also trying to splinter some of the PML-N members, and a huge ugly amount of money is being spent and the horse trading is on all time high, and Zardari knows about his and others’ horses.
He is also trying to deflate the PML-N’s strong point of judges and instead of going reconciliation way, he is trying to kill the issue in a hard way by restoring the judges one by one through muscle twisting and tall promises. Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court (PHC), Justice Tariq Pervez Khan, to take fresh oath with his two companion, and it’s an effort to alienate the Deposed Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.
Zardari would become president, but after many black spots on his lapel.
