Zardari changes colours like a chameleon
Like a chameleon, Asif Zardari changes colors without thinking about the consequences. First, he said Makhdoom Amin Fahim would be the prime minister, but then he arranged for Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani to get the top post. He signed the Bhurban/Murree declaration with much fanfare and now he’s looking for excuses to back out.
This is not the way a successful politician behaves. Sooner or later, his party men will lose trust in him and he will be asked to resign as co-chairman. Or the PPP will break up into several factions. Even now it’s not too late. He should come out in favour of the judges’ restitution tomorrow and save the country from plunging into a serious crisis. But all the signs are that he will do what his foreign masters tell him to do.
It’s a pity we don’t have honest, patriotic leaders.
