Everybody is talking about networking with each other. In the physical world, many people have mastered the art of networking. Its all about impressing others and making them potential acquaintances, who can be exploited or leveraged when the time comes. In the virtual world, networking is the most sought after elixir. Virtual Networking is a proven mean to get famous or notorious on the web. Its efficacy as a traffic-enhancer and business-fetcher is beyond doubt.

Mushrooms of networking sites are appearing in every nook of internet. One builds a site, and then like hell starts registering it on the networking sites. One starts joining the communities, and starts becoming the friend of friend of friend of friend. From LinkedIn to Squidoo, and from ITtoolbox to Orkut, and from MyBlogLog to Twitter, the frenzy of networking is in vogue.

The art of networking in the real world has grown to be quite subtle. The key to networking without words is realizing what you’re communicating at all times. “We tend to forget that silence speaks,” says Patrick Miller, author of Body Language on the Job. “It’s a matter of paying attention and being cognizant of what you’re doing nonverbally. Everything you’re doing is being watched.” This “rapid cognition” about body language, clothing and appearance can help determine whether someone thinks you’re a competent candidate or a criminal. ” A Forbes Study says.

So how do you achieve that silent touch of magic in the virtual world. I have an idea, it could be achieved by just following the common sense and sticking to the basics of moral high grounds. For example, when you link to any other site, don’t announce this on that site in your comments. If you visit a site, and wish like hell to be got connected by that site, don’t plead, visit that site, leave good comments, and silently hope that the site owner will notice and if your site is worth, he will link you up. All in all, its all about having worthy content/service/product to get networked.
