Pakistan is fighting terrorism and the troubles in the forms of extremism can be resolved effectively and pragmatically by the parliament consisting of representatives of the people. The people of Pakistan have demonstrated that they themselves are best judge of the performance of their elected representatives and this is the true essence of democratic process which has made a sound beginning but requires a concerted effort to meet the demands of good governance. Musharraf, deserves credit for conducting a free and fair elections. He reiterated his stance of working with the new government after February 18, 2008 elections. It is expected that parties will follow a reconciliatory course and the confrontational policies of the 1990's should be left behind. The reconciliatory politics and the harmonious interaction within the government and between various parties will move the country towards more stable democracy.
