Why is Jamaat-e-Islami against sex education?
At what age should children be taught about sex in Pakistan? Remember that this is a country where most girls in the rural areas get married at puberty and are already mothers at age thirteen. Even in cities like Karachi, this happens in many localities where migrants from other areas have settled. Yet the hard line religious political party (the Jamaat-e-Islami) led a demonstration against the Dawood Public School, where children aged twelve are taught about biological reproduction.
According to a report (“Biology topic controversy deepens: School faces ire of conservatives”), by Fawad Ali Shah in the Daily Times, “Jamaat-e-Islami and its associates on Wednesday protested against the syllabus and demanded that the school’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) be sacked for the introduction of the material while the school is already under scrutiny as it imparts musical education to its students.”
When will these guys grow up?

one thing is maturity and other is puberty. Naturally and physiologically, After the gaining maturity, puberty is achieved and boy/girl is ready to reproduce. As sexual behaviour is self-ignited so if we taught them about sex before the maturity, its not only harms on the health but also on the sexual control. They will try to take part in sex violation and copulate opposite sex forcefully as they have ignited. West is facing illegal pregnancies, abortions and many other sex problems by immoral freedom of their childeren and phenomenon like sex education. They are controlling their such problem with education but its physiologically wrong way to control. They should adopt the moral ethics as it give positive way to physiology. Sex education is not a need of marriage, Couples themselves can manage it and reproduce successfully. SO PLZ PLZ STOP THIS IGNITION, STOP THIS SEX EDUCATION IN ISLAMIC SOCIETY.

@ Sheheryar Malik: you mean you were in a madressah and you didn’t study the parts of hadith where sex is discussed?

@ Concerned citizen: Rahman Dakait was honoured by the PPP. They named a road or something in his name.

@ Irfan: please read the books on Hadith. You will find discussions on sex there as well.

@SL: Well, Hina said it mostly. Puberty age varies. Apart from that i don’t think every girl in Pakistan doesn’t get married at puberty. So far i have only heard of one such case in my place and that too in my grandparents’ days. It might be that in some localities it is common. But not all will get married exactly at puberty.
Another thing, those who do get married at puberty (and if the girl agrees to marriage as Islam has ordered it to be) may be taught about stuff before their marriage by the mother or whoever it be.
Just because one girl is getting married at puberty all the girls should be taught about sexual intimacy has no sense whatsoever in it.
I agree fully with Irfan. If Islamic teachings are provided a child will gradually understand different aspects of life.
@JKS: sexual perversion outside marriage is the normal thing in U.S. but not in Pakistan. AND definitely not in Islam. In the U.S. the number of illegitimate children is so high that one wonders if any child was born to any married couple. Doing the act and then getting married quickly so that the child will be born to a married couple doesn’t change the fact that the child is still illegitimate.
:) It is amusing to note that you have mentioned backward and overly religious together…
You asked about birth control…oh, i think it was in the other post. O’right i will go there to answer that one.
