Release Dr. Aafia Siddiqui

Tsunami of Votes

It’s a fact that, even after more than sixty years after our independence we are yet to show the world a working, stable, vital and true democracy in the world, and due to that very reason we are suffering at full throttle by the hands of every imaginable evil.

Now, these upcoming elections on February 18th are a chance to show world that Pakistanis are not someone living in caves and are not like sheep, who can be steered along in any direction by a stick of one man. These elections are very important for us as a nation, as we have to prove our mettle once again. We have to negate the words of those who say that we don’t deserve democracy and we are not for the basic human rights. We have to nullify such notions of gloom and doom.

Pakistanis are a resilient lot, and after the struggle of lawyers and the proud stand of higher judiciary they have got a jolt of their life, and assassination of Benazir Bhutto was like an earthquake for them, and now they have to act like Tsunami and sweep the forces of darkness once and forever.

True that the weather is cold not only outside but also in the hearts of millions of Pakistanis, who are clenching their fists over their hearts in despair, but self-persecution isn’t the solution. Enemy is out there to get us, and if don’t use this opportunity of elections, then there hardly is any other chance.
