Release Dr. Aafia Siddiqui

Titular Package

The constitutional package announced by the Pakistan People’s Party and duly approved by it’s central executive committee is all set to do nothing, but just will elongate the matters more, and will only test the nerves of the people.

This package doesn’t really harm the President General (r) Pervez Musharraf, and it just vaguely talks about getting rid of the retired general. Where it takes a collision head on with lawyers-judges movement, it also angers the coalition partners PML-N by not really restoring the deposed chief justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhary, who has become a icon of the freedom of the judiciary.

Asif Ali Zardari perhaps considers the whole nation as dumb as Makhdoom Amin Fahim. The way he sidelined Amin Fahim, and installed homeopathic Yousuf Raza Gillani as the premier of Pakistan, it shows that he wants to have all things his way, and he wants everyone to follow the suit. With this package, which is the brain child of Farooq H. Naek, the selected law minister with the approval of President House, Zardari wants to gain time and nothing else.

Zardari must stop playing games.
