The Leader
“We didn’t demand Pakistan to only get a piece of land. Rather we wanted to have a laboratory, where we could exercise Islamic Principles.” —- Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah (Islamia College, Peshawar, 13th January 1948.)
Lots of experiments have been done in this land of pure, which was achieved by our forefathers with lots and lots of sacrifices. These experiments have been done by everyone at every level of the society. Starting from the top, we have seen the experimentation of different forms of government which subsume dictatorship, civilian dictatorship, emergency, staged-democracy, sham-democracy, engineered democracy, and bleeding democracy.
What we haven’t really tried out is the pure-democracy. Our King makers are afraid of it. They pretend that Pakistan is not ready for it. They plea that the Western form of democracy, which is almost fair and pure, cannot be installed in Pakistan as such, because people of this country doesn’t deserve it, and their stomach so weak to digest it. Our rulers are hell bent on insulting us without even consulting us in front of the whole world, and we remain as usual demented mere spectators.
Nobody has ever tried to really go the democratic way. When we are not in dictatorship, politicians in opposition always look towards the General Head Quarters, and the politicians in ruling always remain on look to damage the opposition where it hurts. We have tried out these Nawaz Sharif, Benazir Bhutto, Dictators, and the MMA. We are fed up of all of them and really don’t want to see even their faces, yet they are there showing their bleeding and corrupted teeth to us shamelessly.
We need someone who could really experiment democracy in Pakistan in the light of Islamic principles. That would be The Leader.
