Sher Afgan Niazi Manhandled: Lahori Blow to Lawyers Movement

Sher Afgan Niazi
Dr. Sher Afgan Niazi, the former minister of parliamentary affairs in the Musharraf regime was one of the most ridiculed minister due to his arcane justifications about the coup of judiciary by General Musharraf.

But the way he has been dealt in Lahore today has turned him into a sudden hero, and the symbol of sympathy. First, the former chief minister of Sindh Dr. Arbab Ghulam Rahim became an innocent doll and accumulated sympathy sentiments, and now Dr. Sher Afgan Khan Niazi has received his share.

The plethora of anti-PPP, anti-PML-N, and anti-Lawyer Movement incidents are doing nothing but putting a question mark over the exercise of elections. That is why the sane people were saying that nothing is changed and the change won’t be completed till the removal of President Musharraf from the top.

The manhandling meted out to Dr. Sher Afgan is condemnable and cannot be justified and same is the case with the Dr. Arabab, and equally for the manhandling of deposed judges and other opposition workers, but the thing is that these incidents must also be seen in the light of socio-economic perspectives.

Musharraf is trying desperately to cling to power. It looks like his allies are doing everything to create distrubances so that attention is diverted from the real issue, which is restoration of the judiciary and removal of Musharraf.
