Rising Competition

With the passing time, the competition in studies is increasing very rapidly. Earlier students had just to pass in all subjects, then they started acquiring good marks but today even if one gets very good marks, still there is no surety that he would be given admission in any reputed professional college. Most commonly, the failure or lesser marks I examinations are due to any reasons as:

The parents don’t put their children to study regularly, basically the parents don’t pay much heed over the child regarding studies rather they try to fulfill every desire.

Students waste much of their time in watching cable TV, using internet, and using mobiles for messaging, talking to friends or listening radio, etc.

Parents don’t coordinate with the teachers regarding the study syllabus and the schedule. Students don’t want to put in efforts and hard work rather think of short and easy ways to earn money and achieve the goals.

Most of the students don’t know to attempt the paper by selecting appropriate questions to answer that could make up most of the marks with in the given time.

Students are unable to maintain balance between the studies and other activities.

They depend on keys, guess papers, guides, and test papers. With this they may be able to pass but can’t make their future.

Most of the students study only when they are freed before exams and think they would get good marks.

My question is that if all students pass by ratifying the course or by cheating, would they ever be able to compete further to join some profession? What if they spend one more year to work hard?

Now days the entry test system has made it very difficult for such students to get admission in some reputed college. If they really work hard and make concepts, only then it would be possible to make the future bright. But this needs the whole education system in Pakistan to be reviewed. Here are some points to raise:

  • Conceptual study of the course.

  • Application of education to the practical life.

  • Research oriented subjects in the course.

  • Proper training of the teachers for the new syllabus and patterns.
