Release Dr. Aafia Siddiqui

Resignation of Qazi

Zalimo Qazi istafa day raha hai. This sentence should evoke a very funny and familiar deja vu. After everything has happened, and now nothing could be done to save Lal Masjid and Jamia Hafsa, and the lives of people who died from both sides, Qazi has come forward to polish his politics.

Where was he during the ten days of operation? Where was he during the whole tension? He didn’t go to Lal Masjid once, in the whole issue, and now he is offering his resignation. What is the worth of his resignation, after all?

Ameer-Jamaat has announced his resignation and has also declared his intentions to make a fact-finding mission regarding the Lal Masjid issue. He has found a good topic for his R & D before election. The more interesting thing is that only he would be the person who would be resigning from the national assembly, whereas the other members of his party, who somehow managed to reach assembly would stick to their seats. They must have taken a sigh of relief.

Qazi shouldnt exploit this moment to sharp his teeth. If he was that sincere, he should have raised this topic vehemently in APC, and should rally his point with all the other parties, and the resignations should (if they should at all) come from the whole opposition, but Qazi didnt bother to do that, and after a token and symbolic condemnation of issue, he just enjoyed the weather in the London.

Qazi should have taken atleast Maulana Fazl ur Rehman in confidence, but then when Maulana took him in confidence, when he made public his wish about prime ministership?
