Reconciliation in FATA
If reconciliation efforts are needed any area in Pakistan then it is the tribal belt, the rugged and ignored area between the Pakistan and Afghanistan. If reconciliation efforts are needed with any personalities then it is the militants who are fighting back to Pakistanis and to the United States predator drones.
British Foreign Secretary, perhaps now know that and his perception is being reflected in the neo-Bush cons, who were previously drumming the war drums at the loudest beats. This change in the war on terror policy by Washington and London, and this should be the chance Pakistani politicians must exploit.
Though the war-mongers in the United States and other NATO nations are still hell bent on attacking the tribal area of Pakistan, but those who are aware of the ground realities know that this war cannot be won by attacking the militants in the elusive mountains and hostile planes.
So the new coalition government of Pakistan Democratic Alliance should adopt a daring stance and by using the open-minded ANP leadership in the troubled NWFP region, they should convene grand jirgas throughout the tribal area for lasting peace.
