Recommendations Required on National Education Policy

Education is the foundation of all societies and globally competitive economies. It is the basis for reducing poverty and inequality, improving health, enabling the use of new technologies, and creating and spreading knowledge. Keeping in view this significance of the education, Government of Pakistan (GoP) is rationally intended to take revolutionary measures to de-conventionalize this far neglected sector (or at least it claims to do so).

For this purpose a three-stage wide-ranging research process was commenced in 2005: Diagnostic Stage (Dec-05-Jul-06) to get acquainted with the causes and contours of the stagnation of education sector; the Prescriptive Stage based on thorough arguments with experts on focused issues leading to compilation of the Thematic Papers; finally the Policy Development Stage pursued by preparation of a set of approaches and the Implementation plan.

White Paper, that is, pre-policy draft is a first activity of last stage and will be followed by three other documents – the Revised National Education Policy, the Strategies and the Implementation Action Plans. White Paper extensively portrays the diversity of education sector and proposes evolutionary recommendations. The complete White Paper is available at the website of ministry of education, i.e. www.moe.gov.pk (the summary can be provided on demand).

The purpose of this post is to tell you that White Paper is open for discussion. You are highly appreciated to propose any innovative recommendation for forthcoming education policy of Pakistan. Being a researcher in MoE, I assure you that your suggestions will be seriously examined and if implementable, will be included in new edition of White Paper. You can post your recommendations on the same site, i.e. www.chowrangi.com or you can send it to beatingmind@gmail.com.

    Dear All
If we are sincere with our country and wants its development take revolutionary step and increase education budget at all levels at least it should be 9% of our overall budget. In my own view for rapid development it shoud be 22% and for 10 years we shoud spend more and more on education for real and sustainable development
