No matter how much I try to cheer myself up, things always look dripping with gloom and doom. Its not that I am a wretched pessimistic, I tend to be a realistic animal.

When I read on different blogs and then in newspapers about the potential formation of national unity government without any role of General (Retd.) Pervez Musharraf, and the participation of all the stakeholders in the country, I warmed my cold heart by hoping that now things will return to normal.

By returning things to normal I mean that power and flour crisis would subside a little, everyone will talk about moving ahead on our eternal path of a developing nation, stagnation would end, a midway would be found for the freedom of media and judiciary, and terrorism would be fought mutually by everyone.

I was dead against the deal between Benazir Bhutto and Pervez Musharraf, because it was just for the vested interests, and I didn’t have much faith in National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) and its beneficiaries. When I heard about the meetings of PML-N leader Shahbaz Sharif and a close aide of Musharraf, I thought it good for the country, as something has to be done really dynamic to change the dynamics of country, which are fast pushing to the nation to the brink.

Then it was learnt that President Musharraf doesn’t want to leave the power, and he wants to supervise the “national government”. What a hopelessness, and what a misfortune.

PML-N leadership along with some other key players refused to play any role in any setup in the supervision of Mr. Musharraf, and they did what the nation wants. It’s good that opposition is taking stand in the favour of national interest.
