Premier Game
Due to the immense pressure from United States, United Kingdom, Japan and Saudia Arabia, and also from the domestic formidable stakeholders, the co-chairman of Pakistan People’s Party Mr. Asif Ali Zardari is at odds and in a great mess about selecting the candidate for premiership from his party.
Zardari is doing the right thing by discussing this pressing and vital issue within his party at all the levels before taking a final decision, and it wouldnt do any harm if he allows the guessing game to carry on for another few days. Though media, political circles and even some of the elected MNAs of PPP were expecting that the meeting of the parliamentary group had been convened by Mr Zardari to announce the name of the prime minister, but to the disappointment of many it was yet another meeting and nothing else.
Senior party leader including Makhdoom Amin Fahim, Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani, Ahmad Mukhtar and Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi are lobbying hard in the circles of PPP and outside to become the next Prime Minister of PPP.
Zardari is very much in the favor of Ahmad Mukhtar, in order to gain points in Punjab province, but Ahmad Mukhtar is not muck liked in the the cadres of PPP that much and many are tilting towards Yousuf Raza Gillani, while the elected members from Sindh are adamant about Makhdoom Amin Fahim.

I would say Shah Mahmood Qureishi would make a much better prime minister than either Yousuf Raza Gilani or Makhdoom Amin Fahim. But why can’t these guys just select the person through secret ballot? Maybe all that talk about democracy is bullshit.
