PPP Deadlock
Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Latif Khosa of Pakistan People’s Party are trying hard to remove the contentious issues between party’s vice-president Makhdoom Amin Fahim and party’s co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari.
The last night meeting between Zardari and Makhdoom Amin was part of that effort, though it failed miserably as Amin Fahim was adamant to tell Zardari that it was his right to become the Prime Minister and now as Zardari himself wanted to grab the top slot so that is why Amin Fahim was sidelined.
Zardari told Amin Fahim that due to Amin’s links with the Presidency and his shoddy behaviour after the assassination of Benazir Bhutto last year in Rawalpindi, many people within the party and in the coalition parties are very apprehensive about the prospects of his becoming the Prime Minister.
Now Zardari needs to take some bold steps and to ensure the integrity of his party he needs to move quickly.
