Office Politics
Office and political skirmishes are tightly intertwined with each other. The things like senior, junior, designations, salaries, increments, allowances, deductions, privileges and even seating arrangements are of critical importance in an office environment. People tend to fight for little ephemeral advantages with their whole might.
A typical office is a whole world in itself. There is ruler, his chosen ones, their corrupt doings, the unhappy ones are the major elements of this world. The more big an organization becomes, the more its people sway towards politics and away from productivity.
This is lethal and fatal for a new comer in the organization. A lamb among the lions or a tuna among the sharks. A new comer suffers lots of pain when becomes a volley among the seniors. Everyone uses and discards him pretty regularly and by the time he himself becomes some sort of senior, he forgets the very purpose of his career: to learn and to produce.
What could be done in such a productivity-hostile environment? Keep very much away from the intrigues, back-biting, envy and skirmishes. Keep silent as much as possible. Live and let live. Do your work as diligently as possible. Keep everything in writing. Attack only when you are threatened, and attack fiercely. The best course of action is to speak with your production not with your “Big Mouth”.
