The more the things change, the more they remain same. This maxim is so much true and fits in correctly at the current political scenario in Pakistan. Return of Benazir, deals, presidential elections, suicide attacks, and the upcoming elections are sill very much there, and the restriction on the return of Nawaz Sharif is still there, and he is very unlikely to return back to the country.

It is exposed now that the so-called National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO), which was the illegitimate child of Musharraf and PPPP deal, was a farce, and it was just a ploy to get the judiciary busy for a while, and to pave the way for Benazir’s bloody return. Now she is in the country, but amidst so many hue and cries. Musharraf is playing the power game with utmost dexterity, and has now even created rifts within the PML-Q.

Musharraf has started even exerting upon Chaudhry Shujaat and Pervez Elahi. Shujaat and Co. was never happy and comfortable with the Benazir’s deal and the amnesty for her cases and they voiced their reservations in public at numerous occasions. Now when Benazir is openly blaming them for the attacks in Karachi, they have also started opposing her bitterly. Shujaat even tried to mend his badly broken ways with the PML-N, and tried to meet Ghaus Ali Shah in London, but didn’t receive much success, but he is still trying.

Nawaz Sharif is not acceptable to Pervez Musharraf at any cost, and he has told his unhappiness to Shujaat over his efforts. Now a new fight of next Prime Minister Candidate from PML-Q has been started, and this time the opponents are the old-time friends Shaukat Aziz and Pervez Elahi. Shujaat and other effectual lotas are pitching the name of Pervez Elahi, the current chief minister of Punjab and a close relative of Shujaat for the PM candidate, while Shaukat Aziz has said openly in media that he would certainly like to carry on servicing the country.

New game has started, and this time it would be more funny and alarming.
