New Alignments
It’s just matter of hours now as the ruling coalition of PPP and PML-N part ways, and MQM, PML-Q and JUI-F have sharpened their teeth to start looting at the helm and they are about to plunge into the fray. While all this drama unfolds in the most disgusting way, nation watches in exasperation.
Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz expressed serious reservations over the PPP’s ‘unilateral’ decision to nominate Asif Ali Zardari for the president’s office, terming it a violation of their bilateral agreements and it is now certain that PML-N won’t support Zardari for the presidential candidate and there is no way Zardari could extract support from them without restoring judges for his election for the president of Pakistan.
Awami National Party (ANP) of Asfandyar Wali, which has 13 seats in the National Assembly and a few senators, the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) of Maulana Fazlur Rehman which has five MNAs and over a dozen senators, and members of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata). PML-Q has also shown interest to join the government, and even there is talk of making Sheikh Rashid a senator.
