Naudero’s Tussles
Late Benazir Bhutto was assassinated and her billions were transfered to Asif Ali Zardari, he also got the throne of Bhutto’s hand-made PPP and now he also wants to also grab her inherent Prime Minister’s slot. No wonder, he has come to his original and now publicly declaring that there is no other leader in the party.
What a shame for a party which claims (which is a justified one) that it encompasses the whole of Pakistan, and PPP has got millions of voters and thousands of small, medium and big leaders scattered from Karachi to Khyber, and yet Asif sees on one, that’s wondrous and preposterous.
Rumors spread just after the assassination of Benazir Bhutto that there were fissures appearing in the cadres of PPP, and Makhdoom Amin Fahim, who sacrificed so much (even PM-ship in Musharraf’s era) wasn’t happy with the approach of Zardari and his toadies in his party (who mainly belonged to South Punjab including Shah Mehmood Qureshi), and Amin Fahim was smoldering inside.
Now in a closed door meeting of top party leaders in Naudero, Amin Fahim has told Zardari clearly that he intends and wants to become the Prime Minister, and he may have no objection over the role of Asif Ali Zardari as caretaker chief of PPP, but no more than that.
After the elections, if PPP wins any majority then it would be fun watching how things sprout up from Naudero.

The Sindhis I know say that Makhdoom Amin Fahim would be just another Jamali, a yes-man who would do only what his boss tells him. I’ll be very surprised if he takes a bold stand against Zardari.
