Nation-wide Torture Goes On
Lawyers, political workers and civil society members are creating a new history of passion, bravery, and fearlessness, while nation gropes into the darkness of media ban. Al-Jazeera channel warmed the hearts of many when they telecasted the rumor of Musharraf’s topple, but it was a short-lived fun.
Including Azad Kashmir, in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta and other cities of Pakistan lawyer fraternity boycotted the courts. They demonstrated with black ribbons on their arms. Police tortured the lawyers severely, which resulted in the hundreds of injured lawyers while Police arrested thousands of them after severe beating and abuse.
Police also carried on arresting the political workers, and the last few hours were really heavy on the workers of Jamat-e-Islami, as there were no more PML-N workers to be arrested. Almost all the workers of human-rights organizations have been taken into the custody and shifted to unknown places.
Lawyers along with the political workers of PML-N, Tehrik-e-Insaf, Jamat-e-Islami, ANP and some other small parties conducted rallies throughout Pakistan and have vowed again that they would sacrificed everything till the freedom of judiciary.
Lawyers encountered Police in Lahore high court, and Police gave them a life time beating not only on the mall road but also within the premises of the court. A S.P level police officer controlled the torture, and Police dragged, slapped, kicked and abused lawyers at full throttle. They chased lawyers into the rooms of court, and even browsed through servant quarters, and arrested everything black.
In Karachi, things were almost same as Lahore. Police did the baton charge and showered tear gas on the lawyers. Mass arrests of lawyers were made. Son of Justice Sabeehuddin was also arrested. In Lahore Justice Fakhr-un-Nisa was also arrested after torture. Black revolution has started, and only it can now shun the black emergency.
