Musharraf and the impeachment
President has said that it is the government’s right to table impeachment against him and similarly it was his right to defend his actions. He said that he would answer to the parliament against all the allegations. He stated that he did not want to have any kind of conflict between the country’s institutions. He expressed these views in a meeting at the presidential camp.
It is reported that Hamid Nasir Chattha advised the president Musharraf that any decision made by him must not be in the haste of present political scenario. He also suggested that President should first wait for PPP and PML-N strategy to come in light; in regards to the impeachment and later the Aiwan-e- Sadr should inaugurate a counter strategy.
The opposition leader Ch Pervaiz Elahi later in the national assembly said that if impeachment were tabled in the parliament, it would surely fail. In wake of coalition tactics, the president would not resign, he added.
