Minus One Again
The simple equation of Pakistani politics right now is that Asif Ali Zardari detests Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhary, the deposed chief justice of Pakistan, and like Musharraf he wants to keep Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar as the chief justice, though he hasn’t have any issues with the other judges, but he is not ready at all to restore Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhary.
After the resignation of Musharraf, a new bizarre game is going on and there is every chance that such scum would go on for a time, and the coalition is likely to break apart on this crucial juncture, and even there is no room to envisage in the wake of the breakup and splintering of the unfortunate coalition, which still hasn’t given anything to the nation after the elections, and now even the expectation have also died.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Asfandyar Wali Khan kept negotiating with PPP chief Asif Ali Zardari and PML-N leader Mian Nawaz Sharif but a unanimous agreement on the restoration of all the judges could not be reached, and it is highly unlikely that anything would emerge. In the upcoming Assembly session, PPP would recommend that all the deposed judges except the deposed chief justice should be restored to the Nov 2 situation.
Musharraf is on the run just because he refused to restore judges and Zardari must remember that minus-one formula, which is not acceptable to the PML-N, the lawyers fraternity and a large number of the members of the civil society is a farce.
