Militants Must be Stopped
When the Kohat Tunnel was inaugurated by General (retd) Pervez Musharraf, he very bombastically called it a start of new era, and ironically named the tunnel as “Friendship Tunnel.” What happened to that friendship and intimacy, everyone saw just couple of days ago.
Darra Adam Khel area has always been a lawless area, and arms manufacturing is a home industry there and no one ever bothered. This is what happens when state doesn’t provide education, health, infrastructure and other basic needs in the area, and people find ways to feed themselves.
Heartless militants took over Kohat Tunnel, along with the Darra area without any difficulty after capturing four trucks loaded with ammunition. They not only took over the tunnel, but also tried to demolish it, but fortunately the security forces reached there promptly and as usual the coward militants just vanished in the populated areas to use innocent people as shield.
More or less same episode was repeated in the Karak area of NWFP, where militants’ attempt to kidnap a government official was foiled, and they took refuge inside a school taking hostage children and teachers, and managed to get away.
What is the character of these ruthless animals? What exactly do they want? Who are they? They cannot be Muslims, as their only target is Muslims. All they have done up till now and are doing is to damage Islam. It’s time Pakistanis should start fighting back.
