Mega Supreme Court
Pakistan is about to make a world record by creating world’s largest Supreme Court, courtesy to the strings of National Reconciliation Ordinance, by which the co-chairman of Pakistan People’s Party Asif Ali Zardari is tied up. His wide grins with hollow eyes tells the story of his haplessness, but he is about to make Pakistan a farcical state by expanding the supreme court.
Asif Ali Zardari now wants PML-N to support the 29 judges of Supreme Court which would encompass the PCO judges and the deposed judges. That would be the most unfortunate thing if it happened, and it would make the freedom of judiciary an elusive dream.
PML-N must never accept the judges who pledged allegiance to President Pervez Musharraf under the Nov 3, 2007 Provisional Constitution Order (PCO). It was the basis of their coalition with PPP. If they accept the 29 judges drama, then it would be a political death for them, but it would also dent their credibility for ever.
Pakistan People’s Party has already lost the popular support due to it’s dual and hypocrite policy regarding the PCO judges and Pervez Musharraf. They have surely taken the nation for a ride. Pakistani people needs mega justice and not the mega supreme court. Justice Dogar may have given Zardari the blessing of NRO, but that only remains confined to him and not to the rest of 160 million Pakistanis.
