Maple NRO and the Forgotten Deals

Pakistan Muslim League-N Chief Nawaz Sharif is spot on when he says that country is at the defining moments and to foster and last the democracy, the present administration has to fulfill its promises. Where Nawaz Sharif is urging Zardari to recall his promises, he must do something urgent to muster some strength against the Punjab governor Salman Taseer, who is now getting out of control and this patient is also not cooperating very much.

What is most saddening is the way Asif Ali Zardari is only respecting the National Reconciliation Ordinance and not paying heed to the mandate he got last year due to the sympathy vote after the brutal assassination of his late wife Benazir Bhutto. He seems to have forgotten all the struggle and only remembering the NRO and the deals attached to it. Perhaps Americans never allow him to recall anything else.

If we move on now without fully documenting and acknowledging the betrayal of our values under the Musharraf administration, we cannot help but validate all that has gone on before. That is exactly what Zardari administration is doing. After giving guard of honor to Musharraf they are now silently endorsing his 3rd November, 2007 acts.
