Lessons Behind the Scars
If you have just started a new business, or are about to do it and sniffing the wind, and wondering how to market your service or product, with virtually no budget for marketing, you are not alone. You are not alone, because you have a tool like blog. You can repeat the following sentence 10 times a day, “Build it, blog it, and they will come.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson, as usual, has something to say about it,”If a man can write a better book, preach a better sermon, or make a better mousetrap than his neighbor, though he build his house in the woods, the world will make a beaten path to his door.”
Gone are the days, (or may be they were never there in the first place), when companies used to earmark more budget to product marketing than on the product development. In those elusive days, marketing was considered a core capability instead of production. Now in this era of electronics you cant just build a crap and sell it due to a garish ad. If your product is a crappy boo boo and your ad shows the most sexiest model, bloggers will blast you out. You can bribe a TV channel, a magazine review or newspaper, but you cannot purchase the millions of bloggers out there, even Microsoft hasn’t got the financial muscle to do that.
In this brave new world of innovation, which is littered with new vistas of opportunities, you can market your service or product without much fuss and hype and budget. Just blog it. Discuss your product domain in it. Take comments. Linkback and trackback the news, blogs, views about your product or domain or product in you blog. Offer value-added advice on your blog regarding your products. Even praise or lash at your competitors in your blog. In short, just beat the hell out of everything related to your product in your blog.
World is waiting, what are you thinking? and take my advice. Learn the Lessons behind the scars from other’s adventures and google out the people who have been blogging about their products and services.
