Release Dr. Aafia Siddiqui

Lal Majid’s Inordinate Adminsitration

Every reasonable and rational person is shocked at the continues excessiveness of Lal Masjid’s administration. Maulana Abdul Aziz and his students (both male and female) have been ridiculing the Islamic traditions and laws without any check. I mean, they are strengthening the propaganda of many non-Muslims that Islam is the religion of force and subjugation.

They captured a children library, their own land is not legally occupied, they are stopping women on roads, they are abducting people from the streets. Recently they abducted 4 police personal from the road and barred them inside the mosque. Where is the rule of law? One policeman, yesterday, asked me for a 50 rupee bribe, despite of the fact that I had all the prerequisites of traveling with me, and I was driving within the rules, but in order to save my time and energy and dignity and vehicle, I had to give him 25 rupees. So What should I do? Go back with my buddies or hired goons, and kidnap that policeman?

We all are Muslims and love the teachings of Islam. We also do want true Islamic society. We also want the implementation of Sharia law. But not in this foolish, useless, brute and blind fashion.

I would also like to commend Musharraf government’s tolerance and restraint. They have said it time and again that they dont want any confrontation with students and they respect the dignity of mosque and knowledge, but it seems that Maulana Sahiban, for some unknown reason, do want a clash and they are igniting the government.

In the better interest of religion and country, I appeal to the Lal Masjid’s administration to come back to the reason and in these testing times, try to bring an Islamic educational revolution with the help of pen and paper.

you know what… i have a gut feeling that this lal masjid issue is being used by dictator as a diversion tactic to divert attention from CJ issue and MQM’s massacre in karachi… irony is that operation is being planned against LAL masjid, while on the other hand terrorists and murderers from MQM roam around scot free … it just shows that Mush takes his decisions based on ethnicity.. operation and killings of pakistanis in Wana and baluchistan.. but siding and supporting known terrorists who are responsible for killings in karachi…

I am literally surprised to read dOctOr’s comments. I am not a fan of MQM and it may very well be a horrible political party but to suggest that the government is using the Lal Masjid issue as a diversion tactic amounts to unparalleld stupidity. The next we will hear from dOctOr is that the recent cyclone is Pakistan was also unleased by the government. Please read prof Gafoor and Qazi Hussain’s recent statements…MMA supports both the CJ and his tea parties and the Lal Masjid tactics and its administration. Wake up people and realize the issues that face our nation. Speak your mind but do not let the commonsense leave you lurching.

I am not agree what is said by the writer of this topic.Do you know that there are three levels of Iman to get success and to be insured that you are able to go to Jannat.First, stop evil by hand,Second stop evil by saying that you are doing wrong and lastly is that you feel by your ownself that some one is doing wrong. And what is going on in our country, you know well, music, barbarisem, injustice,no one is safe and there is evil every where. The orders of Almighty has no attention in our lives. We are doing wrong in a sense that we are doing right.Muslims are terrosrist and when some muslim is arrested or caught he is given to america by saying proudly that we have arrested a terrorist,so baddd. There is no one here who sologon that what is being done is not right.

I appreciated your kind words and gentle approach and hope that we both will be able to show respect for each other’s views.

First, I will appreciate if you would please tell me the source of – the three levels of Iman. I would like to read and understand it myself. A Muslim is not supposed to pass judgment on another Muslims so I will also appreciate it if you would please tell me where in Islam it is commanded that – it is OK for one Muslim to pass a judgment on other Muslims.

I agree with your statement that there are a number of things that are wrong in Pakistan but taking the law in your own hands only adds one more wrong to the list of wrongs. Injustice does not end because you start your own version of justice. Your form of justice may be an injustice for someone else. You do not go to Jannat just because you think you can go to Jannat – this judgment rests only with Allah. Only He understands the larger consequences of your actions. Only He knows if your wrongs are right or if your rights are wrong. You cannot call yourself, the victim, the judge and the executioner all at the same time.

If music is unacceptable to you then you should not listen to it but you cannot burn down these music stores. I personally do not listen to music and I do not like the vulgarity that goes on with them but that does not mean that I should take the law in my own hands. If every Muslim takes up the law in his or her own hands, the whole country will go up in flames. If you believe that Muslims should not listen to the music then you should reach out to other Muslims and convince them that Music is not good for them. Remember there is no compulsion in Islam – please read Surah al-Baqara, Ayah 256.

Your statement that - Almighty has no attention in our lives -, assuming my understanding is correct - is not always valid. There are good Muslims and then there are bad Muslims but only God knows what is in our hearts. Islam does not permit you to pass judgment on other Muslims. You can only speak about your own heart.

Your statement about –terrorism that Muslims are caught and handed to America and that it is bad - is unclear – If someone is innocent then the government of Pakistan should not hand them over to anyone but if some has committed a crime against another nation or people, taken the law in his or her own hands then international laws and treatise, of which Pakistan is a signatory, require Pakistan to move the culprits.
