Karachi Metroblog Gone? or is that April Fool Prank?
![]()
Karachi Metroblog (KMB) used to be a great blog describing and updating on issues related to Karachi. It was first metroblog of Pakistan, later followed by Islamabad and Lahore metblogs. Unfortunately it started to loose its standard since last many months, new authors were inducted through references and PR (most of them without any existing portfolio as such) while old authors thought themselves to be champions of human rights, criticizing others and blocking comments on their own posts. Recently Captain of KMB left and no formal information was provided about it on the blog.
I think all these issues have forced the management of Metblogs to suspend KMB. Sean Bonner, Metblog co-founder, cited bitter rivalry within the ranks of the authors , as one of the main reasons for shutting down KMB. He says,
While I could certainly try to sugar coat this and blame corporate restructuring, the truth is we are just sick of the constand bitter rivalry within the ranks of the authors which has lead to absolute chaos on the site. Honestly, not a day goes by that one author isn’t e-mail me complaining about this or whining about that, and quite frankly I just don’t care enough to keep putting up with all of it. It’s become a nightmare and it has to end. To solve this issue we are forced to start afresh close the site entirely, step back, and decide what is the best future for this site.
While some may consider this to be an April Fool prank, Teeth Maestro reports his login access is blocked, so there may be something into it.
If this is for real then it iss moral responsibility of KMB authors to come forward and explain what really happened.
