Junaid Jamshed criticized by leading Ulema for endorsement of Lays Chips
According to a report in the Urdu daily “Ummat” of 29 June 2009, leading scholars have criticized Junaid Jamshed for declaring Lays chips as “halal”.
Mufti Naeem of Jamaa-e-Binnoria (SITE, Karachi), Mufti Muneebur Rahman (Chairman, Ruet-Hilal Committee), Mufti Abu Bakr (Jaamia Clifton, Karachi) and Mufti Abdul Momin Bangash have declared that having a beard does not make a man an Islamic scholar and Junaid Jamshed (who has not been trained in a madressah) has no knowledge of Islamic jurisprudence.
According to a letter in “The News”, Junaid Jamshed advised students not to study science and technology but to devote all their time to study Islam.

@ shahbaz: alcohol was permitted in the early days of Islam, it was made “haraam” later. As for the bible (if you mean the New Testament), it says that Jesus turned water into wine (which means that it is not banned), while in Hinduism (to the best of my knowledge) alcohol is not banned but its consumption is not liked.

@Shahbaz: All the commandments of Islam did not come at once. Everything was revealed one at a time. First was the kalimah, which Prophet Mohammad (S.A.W.) and his Sahabah preached for 13 years. There was no halal/haram at this time. Slowly, through the Holy Quran, Allah SWT revealed more actions that became compulsory (salat, zakat, hajj, etc) and more actions that became haram (alcohol, gambling etc). The Holy Quran was not revealed in one day. Concerning alcohol, many Sahabas drank it and some even had businesses selling alcohol. When the verse banning it was revealed, the streets of Madina were flooded with alcohol. People destroyed all alcoholic bevearages and no one drank it from then on.

Alcohol was never halal . you can see even in bible alcohol is prohibitted . and even in hindu books . How can it be halal.

It was never liked by people with good deeds .You say that Hazrat Ali(A.S) accepted Islam at the age of 8 .if you believe this ,use common sense.
Alcohol was always a favourite beverage of people with no ethics and Hazrat Ali(A.S) is the one who grew up under the shadow of Hazrat Mohammad (S.A.W.W) in the same house

Alcohol was halal until the verse came down prohibiting it. Considering this, why is it an issue if Hazrat Ali drank alcohol when it was allowed.

@ Shahbaz: agreed, Dr. Israr is only a doctor with a medical degree. He only pretends to be an Islamic scholar, and those who follow him should be careful.
