Judges are about to be restored?
Rumor or news is circulating in the shrouded corridors of Islamabad that Pakistan People’s Party now wants to get over with this judges issue, and the solution is just in the offing, whether acceptable or not acceptable to anyone.
Pakistan People’s Party has told PML-N, Pervez Musharraf and Aitzaz Ahsan that they are not going to budge an inch from their stance of not to oust the PCO judges including the chief justice Abdul Hameed Dogar and they would also include the deposed judges and they would keep the Dogar intact.
PPP has also conveyed that they are ready to challenge any protest and they are ready to face the backlash. After compromising the long march and after denting the credibility of the Aitzaz Ahsan, Zardari and the Rehman Malik think that now the steam has gone out of the lawyers movement and now they could have their way.
If the judges are restored in that fashion then it would be the demise of the free judiciary in Pakistan. If Nawaz Sharif and his party goes with it, then they would be shoot in line with PPP, and if they keep to their stance they would be the champion of justice and democracy.
