Allah Almighty has addressed humans and jinn separately in the Holy Quran . They are powerful in sense as they can do certain things which human can't do e.g. changing shapes, flying etc. Allah has made them with fire and given them power and they can harm humans but not those who are protected by Allah Almighty. Satan who is a Jinn, himself confessed that he would misguide people but not those who are protected by Allah Almighty. So they can harm humans directly but not to those who are in the protection of Allah Almighty and as already mentioned, we should seek Protection from Allah Almighty by praying, should keep ourselves clean, offer regular prayers and recite Holy Quran regularly.
