Islam Channels/Haram Channels

Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala has ordered that men and women lower their gaze. It is haram to look at a person of the opposite sex. The question I put to these “Islamic” channels is that how does a person lower his/her gaze while watching these so called Islamic channels?

Are they spreading Islam? Do they even know the meaning of the word? Or is it just another propaganda to earn money? Why do they earn money by giving speeches and lectures on Islam. Is that not haram?

Why is it that these Islamic channels ask for donations and keep a huge percentage of the money themselves. Look at the enormous bank accounts of the managers of these “Islamic” channels and you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about.

Have they never come across Ahadith warning of the sin of animate pictures? Is Islam not against the free mixing of males and females? So how come on some Islamic channels we get to see a male and a female hosting the show. Yet another question. Why is it that on some channels we see women singing naat without the very basic requirements of hijab?

It is my challenge to any Islamic Channel in the world or any supporter or lover of these haram channels to answer all of my questions.

    Dear Yusha - Salam

I have read all of your three posts on Islamic Channels. I am not a religious scholar or supporter of these channels. I agree with some of your points/thoughts relating to hijab, musical na’at etc., but I don’t agree that Islamic Channels/TV is Haram or prohibited by Islam. Basically, Islam has prohibited drawing sketches and capturing of pictures through cameras or using/watching of TV is not Haram/prohibited in Islam (check FATWAS on web).

Islam teaches us to make balance in our life and prohibits us from prejudice or extremisms. You should keep in mind that none of the material is right or wrong but the uses of these things are said to be right or wrong (Halal or Haram). One more thing which I would like to add that there is saying ‘LITTLE KNOWLEDGE IS DANGEROUS” so I only advise you to first extend your knowledge and then comment on the subject. If we do not use and equipped ourselves with the modern technology then how can we fight against the evil forces of western world in these days.

I hope I have expressed my point of view clearly to you.

    Thanks and Take care

A man with immense knowledge is quiet or a complete ignorant keeps zipped. In both cases they re praise-worthy people.
This post should have gone to an Aalim for his analysis and reply.

Modern technology, if we belive that west is bad then we should BAN all technology from our life, MY religion(islam) doesnt teach me to forbid anythin(up to certain extend) but use it wisely and use your mind (common sense), even if you are thirsty in a desert and only have wine, you can still drink it enough to survive.

    3 rules of Muslims:

    we wont drink
    we wont eat pork

BUT WE are always ready to WILL sleep with as many women as we want…

    Sohail Khan,

I saw the propaganda that you have started after reading this post, you abnormal, crack addicted liar.

You said that T.V. is not haram since whatever is on screen is not a picture since it is in motion and therefore cannot come under the prohibition of animate pictures. The answer is that the illusion of motion in television is produced by showing 30 still pictures, or frames, each second. Through persistence of vision the brain retains each picture until the next comes along. We are not aware of the fact that our eyes are really seeing a rapidly changing sequence of a large number of slightly different still pictures.

T.V. is a medium whose life and existence is dependent on pictures and the institution of picture production. Without pictures there is no television. T.V. is a medium that not only displays, but also produces pictures. By switching on your TV set you are actually assisting in the production of pictures.

    OK. Yusha
For u its Haraam but not for those who hate extremism. Why do ppl like u try to propagate about majority of muslims being Mushriks or practicing evil. If its so, mind it brother, the history tells that in every era man, whether muslim or not, has practised new things and ones adopted by muslims at large are authenticated as islamic by a vast majority of muslim scholars. Anyway can you list modern things that are permissible.
