Is Pervez Musharraf stepping down?
According to The News, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Pervez Kiyani held a series of meetings with President Pervez Musharraf and the ruling alliance.
General Kiyani along with Director General Military Operations (DGMO) Maj. Gen. Shujaa and DG Military Intelligence (MI) Maj. Gen. Nadeem Ejaz briefed the ruling alliance leaders and the cabinet on national security at Prime Minister House.
Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, Co-chairman Pakistan People’s Party Asif Zardari, Pakistan Muslim League (N) leader Mian Nawaz Sharif, Asfandyar Wali of Awami National Party (ANP) and JUI’s Maulana Fazl-ur-Rahman, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Defence Minister Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar, Advisor of Interior Rahman Malik, PML-N Chief Shahbaz Sharif, Pakistan envoy in Washington Mehmood Ali Durrani and the minister for Frontier Regions Najmuddin Khan were present in the meeting.
The COAS later met with President Musharraf and briefed him on issues of national concern.
Apparently, the series of meetings are about national security but it could well be a move by army brass to “urge” Musharraf to step down.

An immediate reaction of these meetings is transfer of Maj. General Nadeem Ejaz (close relative of President Musharraf) from DG MI to GOC Bahawalpur (Source: The News)
