Is it democracy or not?
KMB posted this video of speech made by Adnan Kakakhel of Jamiat-ul Uloom-il Islamiya Banori Town, Karachi in a 3 day bilingual convention in Islamabad.
Out of 95 participants, Khadija Yaqoob of Government College University, Lahore bagged first prize, Adnan Kakakhel got second prize while Osama Ashraf of University of Central Punjab, Lahore got third prize of Rs. 25,000 each along with certificates. The topics were about Jinnah’s vision of a Moderate Pakistan, National Integration-Opportunities & Challenges and Living Together in a Global Community.
The remaining participating students were awarded Rs.5,000 each.
Going through Musharraf’s facial expressions and his exchange of smiles with Mushaid Hussain, It seems that the President took the criticism in his stride. While it’s a fact that this is not a ‘true’ democratic government, one should commend the freedom of expression granted by Musharraf, something unheard of in previous democratic governments.

Adnan Kakakhel got what he wanted, the prize. He critcized army for interfering in politics but failed to remember that there was no democracy in the so called democratic eras and politicians were themselves visiting army house to invite the army for saving country for ruling parties terming the sitting govt a threat to national security.
All the political parties struggling for democracy these days, are non-democratic in their own structure and are ruled iron handedly by single persons. Can anyone imagine overthrowing rule of Benazir, Nawaz Sharif, Altaf Hussain, Qazi Hussain, Fazlur Rehman, Chahdury Shujaat in their respective parties?
Musharraf is better atleast in the sense he did not appoint his brother as chief minister of punjab, mother a seniour minister and son as federal minister or wife as environment minister.

Actually Adnan Kakakhel did raise the point that India, who got freedom along with Pakistan, has maintained to keep it’s armed forces in barracks despite of all corruptions and scandals. Pakistan and it’s governance, unfortunately, went into the hands of corrupt polticians and feudals from day one who have used the army as ‘dadageer’, being called to resolve disuptes and has taken over the booty itself.
Mush is just like Zia in not appointing immediate family members at public positions. However, I dont believe that he is not getting any share in all the high stake corruption going around the country.

it is a good speech and as well as i praise to General Mushraf for his tolerance. As Imran khan pointed i agree there are three major problem if we remove them we will be right track to prosper. i.e free election commission, judiciary system and education.
