IPI Gas Pipeline Project
$7.5 billion Iran-Pakistan-India (IPI) gas pipeline project is a right step in the right directions. The previous government, under the pressure of United States kept this project in the cold storage and a huge loss incurred to the national exchequer.
Energy crisis and spiraling oil prices have also compelled the three countries to come to the table of negotiations and now they have resolved the issues regarding tariff and transportation and now it seems that this project would see the light of the day very soon easing the extreme pressure on the economies of all the three countries.
China is also interested in the project and wants to be a part of it. Pakistan has welcome the Chinese interests and so has Iran, but India is still apprehensive due to its nuclear pact with the United States.
India and Pakistan should now talk to US on equal footings while resolving the mutual conflicts in an amicable fashion. They should foster their relations with China instead of US.
