Girls Harassed on Cell Phones
Why is there such a craze for girls’ cell phone numbers in Pakistan? Countless numbers of Pakistani girls could actually be found on a particular website that does not seem to exist anymore. The problem is not whether such websites currently exist or not. The problem is how the numbers get there and why there is such a craze for them.
Do hurting boyfriends or jealous relatives give the numbers to such websites so that the girls end up being harassed by guys who have nothing better to do? Why does the government not block such websites? Why are such websites not hacked? What does the police do to the harassers?
Harassment on cell phones is nothing new and continues until today. I don’t know why features to block unwanted calls are not utilized. Majority of callers ask for friendship repeatedly even after the girl has refused countless times. Harassment is not limited to calls alone. Dirty SMS are also sent to unknown girls.
At the same time it must also be highlighted that not all numbers are stolen and displayed without consent. Some girls give their number willingly and actually want to be friends with strangers. Now what is happening here. Do they not have friends at all or are they looking for sex?
One problem that has risen in Pakistan is guys recording their girlfriends while having sex and/or taking their pictures. Girls allow this for fear of harming the relationship. However, more often than not, the relationship is broken and the next thing they know, the pictures and clips have been circulated. A lot of girls have committed suicide due to this menace.
What is being done about these problems and how can these issues be solved?

Very interesting you bring such topic up which is always overlooked in Pakistan. I would fully agree with tayab. Such religious catalysts are condemned and these people should be punished as a lesson for others.

It shows moral decline of a nation. It is true and needs to be corrected. There are some fake religious catalysts promting violance against women. It will take long time and collected efforts to reverse the tide.
