I don’t know how, but there has occurred a pleasent change in Pakistan. Galore of private channel, which seem to be enjoying freedom of speech.

Of all the private channels, GEO is taking the lead currently. They are not only taking the lead, but also expanding their array of channels like AAG for youth, GEO Super,which is a self-proclaimed Pakistan’s first sports channel. There also is GEO news. GEO is said to be a family entertainment channel and getting popular day by day.

GEO news is perhaps the best channel in GEO repertoire. It has certainly changed the way in which people of Pakistan were accustomed to news and reviews. After the dull, tightly regulated and bland PTV, this is a fresh and welcome change. Though GEO news is mostly about sensation and garishness, it is a fun to watch. I especially enjoy the talk shows where elected members of parliament fuss with each other. Due to GEO news and other news channels, people of Pakistan have come to see the real faces and approach of their so-called leaders.

GEO super is also good, if not excellent. Up till now, it has failed to capture the serious attention of Pakistani fans except the program “Bolain kya baat hai”. The success of the program “Bolain Kya baat hai” largely depends upon its host Mirza Iqbal Baig, the interactive nature and above all discussion about controversial cricket matters. This program is fast becoming the outlet for Pakistani fans.
