GEO TV Transmission blocked in Karachi?

GEO NewsAs of today, GEO TV and its network channels (GEO Super, GEO News, AAG TV) are off-air in most parts of Karachi. According to news report, cable operators blocked the transmission of Geo Network in a number of areas across the city on Monday, without assigning any reason for the stoppage.

Last time GEO was blocked in Pakistan on November 3, 2007 by General (retd.) Pervez Musharraf. The ban spread to UAE, from where GEO is broadcasting its international transmission and it was shut down on November 17, 2007. GEO was back online on January 19, 2008, hours before Musharraf embarked on his Europe tour.

Interestingly, November 17 marks the anniversary of GEO TV’s international blockage (as remembered by Hamid Mir in his column).
