Exile Ends For Nawaz Shairf, Supreme Court Rules
In yet another historic decision, Supreme court has just allowed Mian Nawaz Sharif and Mian Shahbaz Sharif to come back to their homeland. In a 7-member bench headed by Dear Mr. Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, SC ruled in the favour of the petition filed by Khawaja Asif of PML-N on behalf of Mian brothers.
As soon as the verdict was out, crowd outside the supreme court went crazy. Media frenzy was also spectacular. On their television screen, across the country and beyond, nation saw an un-precedented turn of history. This was a very very pleasent day for the freedom of judiciary, democracy and media and the nation.
Now one wishes that President Musharraf will once again show the big heart, as he showed when Justice Ramday reinstated the chief justice couple of weeks back. Nation fully hopes that the present government would allow the political process with full freedom, and will let the nation decide in the forth coming elections.
It would be very prudent for the government to not to heed the advices of emergency and marshall law, instead they should show trust on the nation and just think for the betterment of the future of this country, which is passing through a very hard time.
There also is a new challenge for the exiled leadership of Paksitan Muslim League (Nawaz). This has been the trend of Pakistani politics to once again include the Lotas to make a government. Its a golden chance for Mian Nawaz Sharif to end this trend forever. He should give chance to the common people and workers who fought for the cause. He shouldnt allow any Lota near him.
Worker power is immense. There are examples when the political leaders wiped out the big names with their workers. Just as Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto did in early 70’s, just as Benazir did in 86, just as Nawaz Sharif did in 88. Workers have defeated even the biggies like Pir Pagara, Sultan Chandio, Mustafa Jatoi and Khar and many others.
The graph of Nawaz Sharif is sky high right now, but if he also makes the blunder of including the Lota in his party, he is doomed, and it would be very tragic for the future of democracy in the country.
