Ensure Me
Ensure Me that you will lower the prices of food for me,
that you will make the economy better and petrol cheaper.
Ensure Me that you will make me secure,
that the “war on terror” is actually vanquishable
and extremism in all it’s forms will be crushed from Karachi to Khyber.
Ensure Me that price hike is within your ability to control,
and that you will actually do something about it.
And you won’t flourish your own sugar and flour mills.
Ensure Me that the stock markets wont get crashed every day,
(like the property boom) and that it will resolve itself
quickly without any lasting negative effects on us.
Ensure Me that you’ll cut the inflation, make quality health care affordable for all,
and quit indulging in nepotism and will visit the constituency.
Ensure Me that the reason you want to be the MNA/MPA is because you want to render your services to your voters round the clock for their welfare without any strings attached.
Ensure Me you’ll work with opposition benches to ensure that they also get the funds to spend in their area, and you will ensure the transparency and accountability.
Ensure Me you don’t care about your “legacy.” Ensure Me you care about the country and its people. Ensure Me that you wont become a ‘Lota’.
Ensure Me, Above all, that you will do everything to get the judiciary and media free, and you will respect it afterwards.
I’ll believe you.
And then I’ll vote.
