Dr. Aafia Siddiqui’s son handed over to Pakistan
In a recent development, Afghan government handed over Aafia Siddiqui’s son to Pakistani officials.
However, there is some confusion about the child’s identity. Pakistani officials name him as Muhmmad Ahmed Siddiqui, born to Aafia Siddiqui in United States. While Afghan Foreign Office said that the boy was adopted by Aafia Siddiqui in 2005 after he lost his parents, a doctor and an engineer, in the 2005 earthquake in Pakistani Kashmir.
One of the three children, who was barely months old when Aafia Siddiqui was kidnapped, had already died while there was no information about her daughter whether she would be handed over to Pakistani official or not.
