Daughters are a bigger blessing

Scientifically, the gender of the baby depends on the father, not on the mother. So if a woman keeps giving birth to daughters its because of the father.

A lot of educated, wealthy people also want sons. I don’t know about the obsession with sons even in wealthy families. I don’t know why daughters are looked down upon.

In the Quran, Allah mentioned that daughters and sons are a blessing for parents. Allah could have said children but Allah separated sons and daughters and mentioned daughters first. The Ulema (scholars) say this is because daughters are a bigger blessing.

(Note : in this case there is no black magic on the man’s willy)

sons carry the fmily name. that why there is an obsession with them. these lyrics from an indian song sum up the obsession with sons.

    “maray bad is dunya may
    zinda meray nam rahay ga

jo bhi tujh ko dekhay ga
    tujhay mera baam kahay ga

teray roop may mil jaey ga
    mujh ko jeevan dobara

    mera nam karay ga roshan
    jag may mera raj dulara

The only place where the birth of a son results in sorrow and chest-beating is Hira Mandi in Lahore and similar places in other cities, where women sell their bodies. Otherwise, throughout the country, if a woman can’t bear a son, they say someone has done black magic on her!
