Benazir Bhutto Assassination

Compromised Election Commission

The Election Commissioner Kanwar Dilshad is one of the remains of the forces of status quo. He along with attorney general Malik Qayyum are still busy in saving President General (r) Musharraf somehow, and are failing miserably.

In their latest attempt to give more breathing space to Pervez Musharraf, Election Commission of Pakistan has delayed the by-elections by two months, and now instead of June, they would happen in mid August, if they happen at all.

The timing is very meaningful. Just when the President of Supreme Court Bar Association has submitted his nomination paper for the by-elections from NA-55, the election commission has extended the date for the elections.

The flimsy pretext is that due to the security reasons and budget session, elections are delayed. Things are much better than 18th February, and what the members of parliament who will make the budget and debate it has to do with the by-elections?
