Commenting Problems with Blogs
Out of sheer frustration, I want to let out some of my whines about some of the blogs of today. In this era of information explosion, when one has so many blogs on his disposal and one wants to share his views on these blogs in the form of comments, its imperative that this process should be as painless, agile, and efficient as possible.
But, with some blogs, this is simply not the case. In order to just comment, you have to register, or you have to give your name, or/and email, or/and website URL. There is not mechanism to stop someone giving fake name or email or url, and how on earth everybody could have a URL, for God’s sake. Some morons, even want their visitors to go through a lengthy process of registering before they could comment.
I would even go as far as saying, that “moderating comments” is not a good idea. If a blogger, really thinks he is writing for public, and he has publicly published his blog, he should be fair, and also allow everyone to offer his views publicly. If someone abuses and malwrites, the blogger could omit the objectionable words, or the whole comment. This will in a sense benefit the blogger too, as it will show a conflict and boy, do they love conflict.
The concept that people have to be invited to post comments is pathetic—if you hold yourself out as a big cojones company, then act like it. Even the concept that one has to register to post a comment is lousy. There have been many times that I started to leave a comment on a blog but stopped when I realized that I’d have to register.

I agree. I have not been able to understand the ‘wisdom’ behind such a dumb act. To begin with, I am sure a lot of people don’t comment to avoid registering, which then ruins the whole purpose of the comments section. Secondly, it comes across as plain rude. A website invites people to read and comment, but they drive them away instead, reminding me of some salesmen. Even though I used to comment frequently on a number of blogs, I have never commented on a website that required me to register. In fact, I don’t even remember the addresses of these websites anymore.

Me too.
