Clean Water Problem
It has been sixty years that Pakistan has been present on the map of earth, but still the drinking water is not available to many citizens, even in the big and modern cities including the capital Islamabad. And if by luck there is a water, its so polluted and dirty, its not even suitable for the livestock.
In the summer season, the things tend to gravitate to worse. Water becomes a rare commodity and people yearn and cry for it. They wait by their taps for water to appear. Every drop becomes the drop of gold. Water is treasured like jewel. If the tap is on the corner of street, then there would be a long line of people, competing for it. There would be fights over water, both verbal and physical. Neighbours would forget their bonds, and relatives would start new animosities.
The owners of water tankers enjoy the most. They become celebrities and distribute water like autographs. They charge exuberant prices for it, and that is also on the basis of some priority.
I think we have, on every forum, debated and cried enough for government to come forward and do something about it. It’s of no use, not even in the distant future. So what should we do? We should accumulating the ingenious ways, how people save and spend water frugally. So please share with us, what are your tips to use water efficiently?

In fact availability of water is the most serious problem than the supply of pure water. We cannot seperate these two problems from each other. Whenever I try to define that who is responsible for this problem, I find myself on a crossroad…a road leads me to the CMs who always opposed of building up new dams on the name of rights of their provinces. In result, our farmers had no option except fitting up new tubewells and underground water level dropped quickly. The other road leads me to the planners of towns and cities who did nothing to make sure the sufficient water supply to new colonies. They approved the new settlement plans without proper arrangements of water supply. And then I find an other road which leads me to our own irresponsibility where I find running taps even when there is no need of water, I see the people washing their cars and motorcycles by using water pipes connected directly with the tap and they waste water about 40 to 50 times more than it needs to wash them by taking water in bucket or small water tub.
Water tanker owners are also the part of our society. They are of the same mentality of making money by black marketing, the typical habit of our society. How can we except something good from them?
Yes, my words are nothing but cry like many others have gone through this way to draw the attention of relevant departments. Wait and look if my cry brings some results or it is still on “Grass root levels”.
