Chemical warfare used in Lal Masjid?

white phosphorous used in jamia hafsa

Teeth Maestro in a recent post referred to AAJ TV’s programme ‘Live with Talat’ where Talat Hussain narrated his tour of Jamia Hafsa with a media team taken for inspection by the government after the massacre. Talat, when asked about white spots on the walls, was told that it is White Phosphorus.

White Phosphorus is a flare / smoke producing incendiary weapon which is also used as an offensive Anti-Personnel flame compound capable of causing serious burns or death. White phosphorus weapons are controversial today because of its potential use against humans, for whom one-tenth of a gram is a deadly dose and according to the Geneva Convention which was later amended by the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons signed into effect in 1997, expressively prohibits the use against civilians. White Phosphorus weapons have been used in the recent past by Israel in Lebanon and US and UK in Iraq, but probably the first time ever by a an army against its own people.

This also explains why government was so quick in burying the victims of Lal Masjid Massacre.

However, according to government version, it was due to suicide bomber who blew himself up when security forces stormed in (apparently succeeding only in killing himself and destroying the room).

Update: According to a report in Daily Express (Urdu), a student arrested from Jamia Faridia (Madarsah for boys - sister Madarsah of Jamia Hafsa) stated that there were 5,000 people present in Jamia Hafsa and Lal Masjid on July 3rd, when the operation started. He said that he has seen at least 10 people burning alive by the ammunition used by attacking forces. He gave this statement in front of 8 member lawyer committee.

i think we need to bring a little more perspective on what America is. America is the very few ruling class that is involved in making policies. An avg american is so embedded in the capital financial system and the euphoria of a perfect society, that he has no idea as to what the govt is or for that matter the power packs are doing there. When i talk of US national interest, i am basically referring to that 1 percent of American class. The americans may have loads of differences in their own, but when it comes to implementation of american hagemony in the world, they areall on the same grid. Meaning by, that their interests, when it comes to the international arena, they have common goals, with different methods of implementations.
Anyways, blame the mil or the autocratic democratic :D govts before, Pakistan is in thick soup. It is only a matter of time, a matter of playing the cards right, till the time the amercians finally decide to come after the ONLY NUCLEAR MUSLIM STATE in the world. The problem with playing the cards right is that, even if you have the best of them, they ought to run out soon. and that is where the real trouble begins. It is time to be realistic. time to keep a grip on the ground, and not be emotional fools. I am always for the slogan of SAB SAY PEHLAY PAKISTAN. We will have to stop being the thekedars of the entire muslim world. When the muslim world is now divided in boundries and the concept of an Ummah has become a far cry. The Saudis, hold over 7 percent of American economy, somewhat around 6 trillion $US. The qataris have given a permanent base to the US central command. THe jordanians are enjoying absolutely fabulous relations with the great west. the egyptians after a long feud with the americans finally yielded to their designs. Even the worst of American enemy, Libya finally handed over the PanAm bombing suspects and rolled back their nuclear progm. Why did they do so. All of them. Well, they preferred their own national interests and went totally realistic. Iran is standing tall, still. Well they have made a choice. They are ready to make sacrifices. Sacrifice their comforts. Sacrifice their swiss holidays and london apartments. Sacrifice their american education and standard chartered corporate banking jobs. :D And since we are no where near making those kinda sacrifices, let us be realistic and do what the Muslim world has done :D
As i mentioned earlier, we have to be realistic. Please tell Mr Qazi Hussain Ahmed to call his sons back from US, if he hates that country so much. Please tell Maulana Fazlu-rehman to have by-cotted the ARD meet in London for being held in the same country that gave salman rushdie the title of sir.:D
My dear friend. We live in a sea of hypocritical liars. Interestingly enuff, we never want to think on these lines. We never want to believe in the same. We hate america, but pray that we get a five yr, multiple. we have the entire europe, but Shangan lag jaye to maza ajaye :D
Let us make a choice. Not as an individual, but as a nation. And since we are not one, so we are left with no choice but to be slaves to those who have power :D :D
    I rest my case:D

I do not think most of US policies are in public interest. As I said they have groups that prepare policies and then exploit public opinions for their interest only. Take example of Bush & Co. How they have waged wars on Iraq and Afghanistan to capture oil resources, minerals and other underground wealth as well as to sell their weapons of mass destruction.

About sacrifices, yes we have to sacrifice and that on national level too. I know of people who are trying to be as patriotic as possible in all aspects of social lives. But these are individual cases and we have to replicate on national level.

Well, ISI and all its sister agencies are all power hungry and power corrupt. They are like devils who grant three wishes and then consume whoever invokes them :)

I am not in favor of Mullah Military Alliance. They are badmouthing Islam and presenting false picture of the religion and its followers.

hmm … allow me to beg a little here if you may.

As far as continuation of US policies are concerned, there is more than just the contribution of Think Tanks and Lobbyists. The greater force behind US foreign policy is “the larger interest of the state”. Something that calls for rising above the love for personal interests and demands a sense of sacrifice. Something that is totally unheard of as far as we are concerned. Whether it is the republicans of the democrats, there is no doubt as to what the country needs; yes the methods of application may vary. If one sides with the use of force, the other believes in severe economic sanctions. I guess that certainly demands a lvl of commitment and sense of patriotism. There the people are serving the system, whereas in our case, the system is serving the few, whether in the military, or in the civil.
Countries are not built on whims and wishes of the few, but the entire nation. The basics have to be set straight before we embark on any aspiring journey.

Now, Foreign Pressure. Tell me honestly here, do we have any choice. Are we ready to make sacrifices. Now as i mentioned earlier, the word sacrifice is totally unheard of in our society. We love to criticize, we want everything thing to be set straight, we want that the govt should do this, or do that, but are we ready to play our part. Are we ready to. No we are not. we are not ready to do away with my comforts. Just imagine, what would happen if pakistan refuses today to go along with US, in the war against terrorism and in returns face all kind of economic sanctions, not as much as a chance of a military intervention. I am not gonna talk of the worst case scenario of a US attack on pakistan. i am just talking of isolation from the rest of the world, just as may be in the case of Iran. Are the higher ups of this country ready to do that. Are even the Non-higher ups ready to do that. No sir we are not. How will we enjoy our yearly trips to Europe. How will we be able to import fancy sports cars and bikes. How will i be able to go to US for higher studies. How will we be able to fix Italian bathroom fixtures in my house, worst of all, what would become of Pizza and burgers of my country. The bottom line is, we are not ready to sacrifice so many things, hence it is our CHOICE, not a compulsion to succumb to foreign aka US pressure. This my friend was the reality, and not an emotional statement. The emotional statement, as we very often make would have been something like… kha laingay ghass … marr jaingay … lekin ghluami nahin karaingay ….
now this is somthing that is a far cry from reality. Something we often hear in the drawing rooms of so many houses, but are not at all ready to accept it as our mode of life.

Now the ISI. Who made ISI, what was the requirement. why would we ever need the ISI. The strength of ISI grew in the days of Afghan Jehad. Why, you know that, i am sure. Who strengthened ISI to the extent that it has become invincible. It is the politicians who started using it as an instrument to destab the govts, whose so ever it is. HAve we ever considered the fact, that even in the times of the political govts, y the opposition parties take to the gates of GHQ to make sure that the other is destab. It is a long story. I would please recommend a book for you to read. “Political History of Pakistan” by Lawrence Ziring. I am sure that this book would enlighten you much more on political setup of this country, how ISI has been turned from an International Spy Org to a threat to own interests. The story of Pakistan is a sad one for sure. and the way things are going, practically i dont see it getting any better. that my friend is a pragmatic view of the situation, not a pessimist one.

First thing we need to see into one thing. False Interpretation of Islam will have to stop. We will have to enlighten ourselves to the true spirit of our religion, not the one thrust upon us by the likes of MMA leaders and local Maulvi saab. Read Quran, and understand it. We would be surprised to know, how the religion is being mishandled by the likes of these political Mullas, who are molding Islam as per their requirements. Even the Late Ghazi in his last phone call said, “negotiations with the govt govt failed owing to mishandling by these Sayasi Maulvis (as reported on Kamran Khan Show). Can it be possible, that the people who are named as responsible for jeopardizing the entire process are the biggest spokesmen for the same cause. Politics is a dirty business. And manipulation of religion into it makes it even dirtier.

Let’s define National Cause first :)

Actually in US policies and issues of national interest are developed by certain think tanks and lobby groups which are later implemented by the government. That’s why their core policies remain unchanged when political parties take turns to rule the country. They later use media and other channels to manipulate and exploit public opinions.

In Pakistan, we have two major factors over-riding all mandates and policies, a) Foreign Pressure and b) Internal Intelligence Agencies.
