Chaudharies Survival
Pakistan’s political history is littered with the debris of accounts of clashes between the democratic forces and the dictators. Everytime dictators have won; sometimes they have faced resistance and sometimes they didnt.
These times are bit different, as though President Musharraf is fighting back and trying to secure his position, the role of army isn’t that much favorable for him, and due to the neutral stance of army, Musharraf’s party has lost in the general elections ignominiously and he has now got little support in the assemblies.
The power games are going on in Islamabad, and PML-Q and the other allies are attending tea parties and dinners in the President house, and all kinds of lotas are swinging hither and thither to gain some benefits from any side.
Hamid Nasir Chattha and Manzoor Wattoo are working on different lines for the same purpose. They both are trying to gain some blessing from the President Musharraf, and they want some role in the next setup by doing some work for the President.
Manzoor Wattoo is eying the governership of Punjab, the biggest province of Pakistan, whereas Hamid Nasir Chattha wants anything substantial with his nose poked for future. They both are vying hard that they could be the forces who could replace Chaudharies of Gujrat and they could do far better job than the Chaudharies have done or are doing. Chaudharies are fighting for their survival.
