Changing China
China was different before communist revolution. Shanghai was considered a sore on the planet earth due to its whore houses trading human flesh.
Ibn-e-Insha in his travelogue narrates an incident with reference to Flax Green: An African student was studying in China on scholarship. He developed liking for a Chinese girl who worked as a buss conductor. African boy used to stand on the stop waiting and boarding the bus on which she worked; trying to talk to her. It all remained one sided and futile. One day the boy picked up courage to give his address to girl saying, “Come see your lover when you finish.”
Next day the African student was delivered a letter saying that his stay in China is no more appropriate due to some unavoidable circumstances. His scholarship has been cancelled. He should get ready to leave; ticket back home is on the way.
This was the result of trying to get intimate with the girl.
